Title says it all!
I'd like to organize a video game "book club" – kinda like a normal book club, but for video games. There are so many great video games out there – especially ones from previous eras of gaming – and I'd love to nerd out on modern games as well as classic games with other enthusiasts.
I think indie games could be good candidates for playthroughs (a quick Google search for 2021 brings up Disco Elysium, Among Us, Fall Guys, Hades, Untitled Goose Game, Telling Lies, Hypnospace Outlaw, and The Witness). But classic games like Super Metroid (for the SNES) could be cool too, assuming that we can find an appropriate modern platform for playing.
Then, once everyone's played our selected game, we can meet up at a selected restaurant in NYC for Sunday brunch, and to discuss our experience playing the game! I reside in East Queens, though I'm happy to travel somewhere closer to Manhattan for these meetups. And of course playing the game is just an icebreaker, talking about anything is completely cool too.
Is anyone interested? If so, please let me know and I can organize a first event! :D
